KCI Introduces the Next Generation V.A.C.Via(TM) Therapy System
Portable System Provides Enhanced Features for PatientsSAN ANTONIO--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) today announced that the next generation V.A.C.Via™ Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System has received FDA clearance. The V.A.C.Via™ Therapy System is a single patient use, ultra-portable V.A.C.® Therapy System that provides simplified wound care for patients with moderate- to low-exudating wounds. It features a diaphragm pump for faster draw down, longer battery life and higher leak rate threshold than the original device. These enhancements make the system both effective and convenient for patients.
In addition to providing all the benefits of V.A.C.® Therapy, V.A.C.Via™ Therapy patients can enjoy V.A.C.® Therapy with a discreet, portable device; clinicians can benefit from the convenience of having easy access to an off-the-shelf, single-patient-use device; and hospitals will appreciate the potential cost savings of reduced length of stay.

The V.A.C.Via™ Therapy System can be used in the acute setting for patients transitioning home and who are in need of continued V.A.C.® Therapy. The product will be available in the US in early December.
