Bone Solutions Inc. Successfully surpasses 500 implanted cases with OsteoCrete(R) Magnesium-Based Bone Void FillerDALLAS, Feb. 26, 2019 -- (Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network) -- Bone Solutions Inc. (BSI), an orthobiologics technology company located in Colleyville, TX, announces it has surpassed 500 cases implanting OsteoCrete with a 100 % success rate. OsteoCrete bone void filler is designed to assist with bone repair and regeneration, and it's the first in the U.S. to incorporate magnesium, a critical property for bone health and development.
"The Company has now reached a wonderful milestone, we have successfully implanted OsteoCrete in over 500 cases throughout the United States with no adverse reactions or failures," says BSI president and CEO, Drew Diaz. "OsteoCrete provides surgeons a much-needed option currently not available, as it's the first FDA (510K) approved bone-repair product made with magnesium oxide which incorporates unique qualities for the surgeon while providing enhanced patient outcomes."
"Many modern devices used for bone repair or replacement are calcium-based and do not exhibit a combination of compressive strength and ideal resorption rate," Diaz stated. OsteoCrete is 100% resorbable, and capable of being assimilated back into the body, as it is replaced with remodeled bone as the patient heals. OsteoCrete is also injectable, moldable, and biocompatible.
"Using OsteoCrete for its' adhesive qualities in my hip and shoulder cases where bone quality is noted to be osteopenic in nature and cementing the joint is not an option, has provided the clinical results I require," states Venkat Rapuri, MD, FRCS, MS Orthopedic Director, Arlington Memorial Hospital in Texas.
OsteoCrete contains magnesium and as a result has a high compressive strength that is four times stronger than cancellous bone. Most of the magnesium in the body (60%) is stored in bone and helps to preserve and develop bone structure by working with Vitamin D and calcium. Its essential role in maintaining healthy bones was a key component of BSI's approach to developing its OsteoCrete technology.
The FDA has cleared this orthopedic technology for use in bone-related surgical procedures ranging from complex sport-related injuries to all musculoskeletal extremities trauma cases.
Bone Solutions Inc., is ramping up the full commercialization phase and is in discussions with regional and national orthopedic manufactures and distributors.
