The blood pressure cuff has been documented to be a source for contamination in many research reports. The H1N1 flu has focused on cross contamiantion.

Most insurance will not cover hospital acquired infections and the average cost they lose is $35,000.00 per case. If you prevent a single cross contamination there is great cost savings. The cuff that travels on a trolly from patient to patient in most medical facilitis would always test positive for contamination and be a source for cross contamination.
