career change

I am looking to make a career change. I have been in the architecture arena for 20+ years. My focus over the last several years as a department director has been management and sales. My question is, what kind of preperation do I need to be doing before putting myself out there for this type of career. I have been around the medical industry all of my life, just have never worked longer than a summer in the field. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is, everyone is promising you'll make BIG money. The reality is, without great contacts amd most of the time with great contacts big money never comes. Many companies add ISRs because they think the more reps the more sales. It doesn't matter how many reps they have, the more the merrier. The problem is that doesn't always work. Choose a company you feel comfortable with. I always tell ISRs that want to come on with us, take the information to a doc you trust, present it and get their feedback. Then make the decision. Also, if there is a company that would allow you to make a slow transition, in other words start as part time, that may be a way to go.
