HemCon, Inc. Introduces Bandage for Emergency Medicine Market

Life-Saving Bandage to Control Bleeding in Emergency Rooms and Trauma Centers

PORTLAND, Ore.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--June 26, 2006--HemCon, Inc. is proud to announce the introduction of its latest Hemorrhage Control bandages engineered specifically for civilian trauma and emergency medicine. These emergency medicine dressings are thinner, more flexible and sized differently than the original HemCon® military bandage yet remain capable of controlling severe arterial bleeding.

"These bandages are a major step forward for emergency medical professionals, giving them the same proven technology that has helped save lives in Iraq and Afghanistan for over three years," stated HemCon, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer John W. Morgan. "Trauma is a leading cause of death in the United States and our hope is that HemCon's products can help reduce that number."

HemCon's new bandages are now available in 2"x2" and 2"x4" sizes. These sizes were chosen to specifically address the wounds seen in civilian emergency and trauma cases such as lacerations, knife injuries, motor vehicle accidents and gunshot wounds.

"With over 6 million bleeding wounds being treated annually by trauma and emergency rooms in United States, this represents a significant market that is currently underserved," said John Morgan. "We have enjoyed great acceptance of our products within the military and these products are part of HemCon's larger strategy of expanding our unique platform technology into the civilian sector."

All sizes of HemCon® Bandages (2"x2", 2"x4" and 4"x4") are now available through select medical distributors and will be priced with the civilian medical professional in mind.
