Synergetics USA, Inc. Adds "Energy BurstTM" to Malis(R) AdvantageTM Electrosurgical Generator

O'FALLON, Mo.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Synergetics USA, Inc. (NASDAQ: SURG ) announced today the addition of an improved cutting feature to its popular electrosurgical generator, the Malis® AdvantageTM. Through a software upgrade, the unit now provides an initial, high-energy surge, called the BurstTM, which when used in conjunction with our proprietary, disposable hand-switched pencils, allows a faster starting cutting action in both vascular and dense nonvascular tissue and may be used with or without irrigation. This new feature allows the surgeon to enable cut power before or after making contact with tissue and eliminates a significant difference in surgical technique when making the change from monoPOLAR to biPOLAR cutting. All new Malis® AdvantageTM units will contain this new feature. The Company has filed for patent protection on this cutting advance.

“This new technology combines the safety, efficacy and tissue sparing characteristics of biPOLAR cutting while approaching the speed and utility of the old monoPOLAR technique without the risk of damage to adjacent tissue and the risk of return pad burns,” said Dr. Jerry Malis, Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Synergetics USA, Inc.
