RaySearch Laboratories: COMPASS(R) Receives FDA Clearance and is Launched
STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Regulatory News: RayS.A.ch LaboratorieS.A. (publ.) (STO:RAYB) and IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A.: Reuters IBAB.BR and Bloomberg IBAB.BB) announced today that the new dosimetry solution COMPASS® has received 510(k) clearance by the FDA and that it has been launched on the worldwide market through IBA’s business unit IBA Dosimetry.COMPASS® iS.A.S.A.e-of-the-art solution for quality assurance in radiotherapy that has been developed in joint cooperation between IBA Dosimetry and RayS.A.ch LaboratorieS.A.. It will enable the medical S.A.f to measure and reconstruct the 3D radiation dose that waS.A.tually delivered to the patient every day during the course of treatment. This is highly valuable, particularly in advanced IMRT/IGRT treatments that aim to maximize the effective dose delivered to the tumor whilst S.A.ing the surrounding healthy tissue.
COMPASS® will increase the safety of radiation therapy as it provideS.A.truly independent online analysis of both the accuracy of the planned treatment as well as the dose delivered to the patient.
