Caldera Medical Signs Patent License Agreement with Coloplast A/S
Agreement Enables Access to Transobturator Surgical Approach for IncontinenceAGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Caldera Medical, Inc., a leading manufacturer of specialized medical devices for the Gynecology, Urology, and Urogynecology markets, announced today that they have entered into a license agreement with Coloplast A/S. The agreement provides Caldera Medical with rights to patents related to the transobturator method for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI). With this license, Caldera Medical becomes the only privately held company in the world to have access to this intellectual property.
The agreement allows Caldera Medical access to the transobturator method for the surgical treatment of stress incontinence. The transobturator method is one of the most common methods for treating incontinence and has enjoyed broad acceptance amongst the worldwide surgical community since its introduction. The agreement also allows Caldera Medical to protect the uniqueness of their proprietary products and to continue developing novel technology for the growing global women’s health market.
“Securing this important license allows Caldera Medical to fully exploit a wide range of development opportunities,” commented Bryon L. Merade, CEO, Caldera Medical, adding, “We look forward to utilizing the transobturator method in our continued pursuit of best in class treatment options.”
SUI affects approximately 13.5 million women in the United States alone and can have a profound effect on quality of life. The market for the surgical treatment of incontinence is estimated to realize an aggregate annual value of more than $1B within the next 5 years.
