Domain Surgical Announces the Release of Extended Length FMwand Surgical Tips

FMwand Simultaneously Cuts and Coagulates Soft Tissue While Minimizing Collateral Damage to Surrounding Tissue

SALT LAKE CITY--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--Domain Surgical, Inc., a leading developer of advanced thermal surgical technology, today announced that it has released a line of extended length surgical tips for its FMwand Ferromagnetic Surgical System. As with all FMwand Surgical Tips, the extended length tips simultaneously cut and coagulate without passing electrical current into the patient, making them safe to use near delicate tissue structures.

The new extended length FMwand Surgical Tips were designed specifically to provide surgeons with superior access to deeper tissue. This first set of extended length tips is 75 mm in length, and includes FMwand dissecting and resecting loops.

“Many complex surgical procedures require deep access into tissue,” said David McNally, president and CEO of Domain Surgical. “The new extended length surgical tips will allow the FMwand to be used in a much broader range of surgery types, which may include deep access neurosurgery and spine surgery procedures. The new extended length surgical tips are one of many planned additions to our expanding FMwand product line.”

Domain Surgical's FMwand product line is based upon patent-pending thermal surgical technology, whereby a surgical implement can be rapidly heated to consistently deliver pure thermal energy to cut and coagulate soft tissue. When the heated implement contacts tissue, it imparts a thermal effect on the surface of the tissue that has a very low depth of penetration compared to most other surgical energy modalities. This results in superior cutting and Coagulation, with little risk of unintentional injury to adjacent or deep tissue.
